Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
