Toronto Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros winning the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial World Series after the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."
Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, ranking him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person anywhere that I'd choose in that spot except for George Springer with his post-season brilliance," said manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their work this season.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he continued.
Toronto secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
