Trump Business Attempted to Bring In Almost 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s corporate entity increased its recruitment of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other businesses attempting to do the same, an analysis released recently claimed.

Based on information from the federal labor department, the business sought to hire at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the US president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The number of requests for temporary work visas for workers including servers, office assistants, cleaning staff, culinary employees and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the company, and up from over 120 in 2021, when Trump’s first term ended.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that the former president had sought to bring in over a hundred overseas workers for temporary positions at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The revelation coincides with a crackdown on immigration laws by his government that has involved the introduction of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; extra scrutiny of the actions of the millions of people who already hold US visas; and tighter regulations for international scholars and journalists.

Overall, the business sought to employ 566 foreign laborers over the period Trump has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.

Significantly, Trump was criticized by some in the Republican party this week for comments justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You cannot just say a country is coming in, going to spend $10bn to construct a facility, and going to take people off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It doesn’t work that well,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers undercut the wages of American employees.

The administration declined a inquiry for response, and the business did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
